Warwick Horticultural & Allotment Society

The main aim of the Warwick Horticultural and Allotment Society is to encourage interest in and knowledge of horticulture in Warwick and the surrounding area. It has been in existence for over 80 years and has the Mayor of Warwick as its President. Membership is open to all and children under 16 join free. The Society is also an affiliated member of the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). Having an allotment is not a requirement for joining - anyone with an interest in gardening and horticulture is welcome. It is also an excellent way to learn from others' horticultural experience.

We operate a Trading Hut situated at the heart of the Percy Estate Allotment site in Warwick, open on Sunday mornings, where members are able to purchase a wide range of gardening essentials at preferential and competitive rates. As a member you would also be entitled to a range of other benefits and savings, including free entry to our Annual Show, members' prices for events and discounted rates from some commercial gardening suppliers.

The WHAS organises a number of talks, trips and social events during the year - full details are given on the Membership Card and on our website. Talks and social events are normally held on the third Tuesday evening of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the Warwick Methodist Church Community Centre, Barrack Street, Warwick CV34 4TH, from the AGM in March through to November.

A major event in our programme is the annual Warwick Horticultural and Craft Show, held over the August Bank Holiday weekend. The 2025 Show was held on Sunday 24th and Monday 25th August, once again in the Court House and Pageant Garden on Jury Street/Castle Lane in central Warwick. Around 700 Members and non-Members visited the Show to see a wide variety of more than 260 entries in 70 class categories, including 10 children's classes. The range of winners showed that extensive experience of growing is not always essential! As well as the Show itself in the grand surroundings of the Court House Ballroom, there were Craft Stalls and Displays, Plant Sales, Tombola and Refreshments in the Pageant Garden to make it a fun day out for all the family, with around 1,200 visitors browsing the stalls and taking a break. Photographs from 2025 and earlier Shows are available on the WHAS web-site and the new Show Schedule for 2026 is attached here. Why not make plans to enter thjs year? There are cash prizes and trophies to be won - do give it a try! And everyone is welcome to come and see the Show.
