Chilvers Coton Scout Group

Chilvers Coton Scout Group has been serving the young people of Chilvers Coton, Nuneaton and the surrounding area for over fifty years. Proud as we are of our heritage and traditions, we are none the less a thoroughly modern, vibrant and forward thinking Scout Group. Our members learn new skills follow a challenging and adventurous programme, make new friends and have fun.  We meet at All Saints Chilvers Coton Church Hall in Nuneaton.

As part of the Scout Association, and Nuneaton and District Scout Council, we have rigorous safety and safeguarding policies.  All adult members of the Group have enhanced DBS checks, hold First Aid qualifications and receive appropriate Leadership Training. Our activities are risk assessed to ensure our adventures are as safe as possible whilst still challenging.

We cater for children and young people of all genders from 6 years of age to 14 years of age.  The youngest section, aged from 6 years old to 8 years are our Beaver Colony who meet from 6.00pm to 7.00pm on Thursday nights.  Our Cub Pack takes children aged from 8 years old to 10 1/2 years old and meets from 6.30pm to 8.00pm on Thursday nights. The Scout Troop will take children aged from 10 1/2 years old to 14 years old and meets on Thursday nights from 6:30pm to 8.30pm. Our last formal section is our Explorer Unit, which together which also meets on Thursday nights from 7.00pm until 8.30pm and caters for our 14+ teenagers through to adult (18), Explorers although linked directly to the group run co-organised with the overall Nuneaton district explorer unit Eliot Explorers. We also maintain an active Network section (18-25) for our young adults which meets in formally once a month, assists with group activities and organises themselves.

We are always on the look out for additional adult volunteers of any age to help us in providing activities, equipment, running the group  and facilities for our young people. There are opportunities to suit everyone, from people who can only commit an hour or so every month, to those of you who have a few hours a week available.  We welcome flexible volunteering that suits the individual.  All sections are especially popular at present and if capacity is reached we operate a 'Joining List' and in conjunction with other groups in the area try to ensure that scouting opportunities can be given at the first opportunity.

Please contact us via our facebook page site at www.cotonscouts.org.uk to put a youngster's name on our joining list.
