HAF information and referrals

The HAF programme offers support to families on lower incomes, giving young people the opportunity to access enriching activities alongside healthy meals over the main school holidays in winter, spring and summer.

Please note that this programme is entirely separate from the Local Welfare Scheme's household support funding (in the form of supermarket HUGGG vouchers). Each eligible young person (in full-time education from Reception to Year 11 who receive benefits-related free school meals) with a HAF code can access; Winter HAF (four sessions maximum), Spring HAF (four sessions maximum) and Summer HAF (16 sessions maximum) Families have the flexibility to book with multiple activity providers if desired.

Eligible families need to request a HAF Code via a brief online form.

Please share details of this programme with families. We can re-send codes if required, just send us an email via hafprogramme@warwickshire.gov.uk.

A professional referral process is available for families who do not receive benefits-related free school meals but have been identified under other areas of need. This referral process is currently under review, and referrers should be aware that our criteria and processes may change prior to the beginning of Winter HAF 2026. The existing criteria remain in effect for the entirety of the Summer 2026 HAF period.

In order to qualify for a professional referral HAF code, the named young person must be facing significant financial barriers as well as coming under one of the below categories:

  • Young Carer
  • Open Early Help Plan
  • Allocated Family Support or Social Worker

Professionals wishing to refer a child for a HAF code should contact the HAF team directly at hafprogramme@warwickshire.gov.uk
