We are a Warwickshire based, registered charity called YMM. We support young people through our mentoring service, building resilience, self-esteem and confidence.
We work with children and young people aged 4-18 across Coventry and Warwickshire in schools, who are struggling with their mental health and wellbeing. These young people are not receiving statutory mental health support but face challenges such as anxiety, low self-esteem, isolation, and difficulties with friendships, family relationships, and school life. Without early intervention, these struggles can lead to disengagement from education, increased risk-taking behaviours, escalating mental health conditions that need specialist professional support and long-term negative impacts on their future.
Many of the young people we support come from low-income backgrounds, where the likelihood of experiencing mental health issues is significantly higher. Many young people do not seek help because they do not believe their issues are ‘serious enough,’ or they fall through the gaps due to strict referral thresholds for specialist care. Others face financial barriers in accessing professional mental health support.
We believe every child and young person deserves access to mental health support when they need it, regardless of their circumstances. That is why our service is unique—our mentoring support is provided entirely free of charge. This ensures that young people who would otherwise be left without support receive the help they need to build resilience, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.
