FAIRFIELD

Fairfield provides long-term residential care and short-term respite care for older people and people living with dementia. The home has four separate households and a care cottage, each with its own lounge, dining area and kitchenette, where people can make their own snacks and drinks if they want.

The households are designed in one of three lifestyles based on town, country and classical living. Hobbies, interests and local information are represented in the hallway decorations, which spark conversation and reminiscence.

The self-contained care cottage has bedrooms with their own ensuite wetrooms and an open plan living area and domestic kitchen. Residents can live in a way that feels familiar, helping to prepare meals, and going out to use the home’s other facilities including the café, covered plaza and launderette.

There's also a beauty salon offering unisex hairdressing and manicures and a quiet room for crafts or family celebrations. The garden features outdoor gym equipment, a side-by-side bike, pitch and putt/bowling lawn and a café terrace, while the covered plaza has café seating, a fountain and a giant chess board.

Daily life centres around the living areas where residents get together and socialise or spend time with their friends and family. Residents can choose to:

  • take part in regular activities such as crafts, baking, games and gentle exercise
  • enjoy fresh air sitting out on the patio or in the garden which has a dedicated cycle path for their side-by-side bike
  • spend time in the central plaza, a space to sit and relax undercover, with a café and a continental outside-living feel
  • join in with one-to-one and group music sessions led by our Community Musicians
  • visit the on-site salon
  • go out on a local trip to places such as garden centres, parks and local pubs on the Memory Maker minibus which is accessible for wheelchair users and relatives can join in the fun too!

Fairfield benefits from a circadian lighting system, that has been developed to be easy to retro-fit into older buildings without the need to completely rewire the home. Circadian lighting mimics natural daylight to set the body's internal body clock, helping people to be more alert during the day and sleep better at night. It has been proven to support health and wellbeing and has significant benefits for residents, particularly for people living with dementia.

The home also benefits from night-time acoustic monitoring, which allows staff to respond quickly if someone needs support during the night, but leaves those who are sleeping well to rest without being disturbed.

If you're thinking about making Fairfield your new home, please get in touch to arrange a tour - like any new home, you'll only know if it's right for you when you walk through the front door.
