Who are we? Targeted Support for Young People (TS4YP) inspires young people to achieve the skills to manage their lives and what it brings through a creative, challenging and supportive approach. TS4YP has a unique method which is developed through a 'youth work' approach: 'The key focus of youth work is to enable young people to develop holistically working with them to facilitate their personal, social and educational development, to enable them to develop their voice, influence and place in society, and to reach their full potential' (National Occupational Standards 2010).
Youth work is a profession that requires degree qualification specifically in Youth and Community Work as recognised by the national Joint Negotiating Committee. In Warwickshire full time and substantive hour's staff working with referred young people are professional youth workers. Some referrals are allocated to extensively qualified staff directly supported by a youth worker.
Why us? We have a proven track record of engaging young people who are difficult to reach, and who are resistant to learning; providing them with the opportunity of gaining a positive destination or appropriate accreditation. What we offer - If a young person meets the following criteria we can help; Are in care or on the edge of care, or who are not in education employment or training (NEET) or at risk of this.
Model 1 - One to One support TS4YP take referrals from partner agencies schools and young people themselves for young people who need individual support.
Model 2 - Group Work Our Group Work programme is delivered by professionally qualified, experienced and passionate staff with success in achieving outcomes with young people who have challenging behaviour. All our group work is underpinned not only by an individual approach but also dedicated one-to-one support by those who need it most.
With the young person at the centre of the process, our programmes: Recognise the skills and talents they already have and create an environment whereby they can challenge themselves and further develop those skills,
- Inspire young people to achieve by engaging them in self-directed personal and social skills development
- Develop the skills needed to manage the complex lives that many young people lead to day
- Prepare young people for work/training opportunities by helping them recognise what is needed to achieve their potential
