Play Refuge is based in Leamington Spa in Warwickshire accepting referrals from Warwickshire and the surrounding areas.
Play Refuge supports children and young people across Warwickshire and the surrounding areas, offering a warm, holistic service for a wide range of needs and backgrounds. I provide play therapy, child-parent relationship therapy, bibliotherapy and therapeutic life story work to support children with experiences such as anxiety, neurodiversity, behavioural difficulties, to trauma. The play space is carefully created to help children explore through play, understand their thoughts and feelings, make sense of their experiences, and feel safer and more confident expressing themselves. Referrals are welcomed from schools, alternative provision settings, professionals involved in a child’s care, and private clients. I am also happy to arrange a telephone conversation to explore whether play therapy is the right support for the child or young person. Play Refuge also has experience supporting children and young people who are seeking asylum or who have refugee status.
My approach is humanistic and child-centred, grounded mainly in non-directive play therapy, while also drawing on integrative and more directive approaches where appropriate to support each child’s individual needs.
