Woodside Care Village is a care home with family-sized households for adults including people with mobility needs, dementia and hearing loss.
At Woodside Care Village, there are 12 households each of which is designed and decorated in one of three lifestyles based on town, country and classical living. Each household has its own kitchen, dining area and living room, while all bedrooms have ensuite facilities. We dedicate two households at the village to our deaf service, Deafinitely Independent. And we train the staff who support our deaf residents in British Sign Language, as well as care and active support.
Meals are chosen at the shop and cooked on the household - and unlike most care homes which offer two or three meal choices each day, at Woodside residents can choose from over 70 meal combinations every day and help to prepare their food in their household kitchen.
The village has its own café, hair salon, cinema, shop, launderette and spa bathroom for a complete bathing experience. Outside, the plaza has seating areas, a bike track for our side-by-side bike, outdoor gym equipment and water features. And there's a quiet area, sensory planting and raised beds. One of the Deafinitely Independent residents works alongside our gardener to maintain the flowerbeds and planting.
As part of our activity provision, WCS Care employs Community Musicians who deliver one-to-one or group music-based activities. And our dedicated Memory Maker minibus provides regular, local trips for residents, including those who need to use a wheelchair. Relatives are welcome to join these trips so families can make new memories together.
The home benefits from a range of technology that impacts positively on the health and wellbeing of residents including acoustic monitoring and circadian lighting. We also use electronic care planning which includes our relatives' gateway so relatives (with consent) can access their loved one's care record from anywhere with an internet connection.
