Sense of the Herd CIC provides inclusive, trauma-informed support for children, young people, adults, families and carers, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and those who support and care for them.

Based at our peaceful, private site in Bramcote, near Nuneaton, we offer non-ridden equine-assisted learning, outdoor learning experiences and Mindful Emotion Coaching. Our approach is grounded in research relating to child development, attachment and neuroscience, supporting emotional wellbeing, resilience, confidence, self-awareness and positive relationships.

We help people to better understand their emotions and recognise that feelings can be communicated in many different ways, including through behaviour, body language, sensory responses, movement, facial expressions and spoken communication.

We welcome people with a wide range of communication needs, including those who are non-speaking, minimally verbal or who communicate in alternative ways. As horses naturally communicate through body language and behaviour, equine-assisted learning can provide a particularly meaningful and accessible experience for people who communicate differently.

We support individuals experiencing a wide range of challenges and life circumstances, including anxiety, low mood, emotional regulation difficulties, neurodivergence, disability, social isolation, managing life transitions and low self-confidence. We also work with families seeking early help, practical strategies and additional wellbeing support, including those awaiting assessment or support from services such as CAMHS.

We have experience working with mainstream and special schools, looked after children, families accessing social care services, and local organisations supporting people affected by trauma, adversity and challenging life circumstances. Through these partnerships, we have successfully supported children, young people, adults, families and carers with a wide range of needs, experiences and backgrounds. These experiences continue to shape and develop our services as we work alongside individuals, families, carers and professionals to ensure our support remains relevant, accessible and responsive to local need.

All sessions are delivered by accredited Equine Learning Practitioners who have completed Personalised Care Institute accredited Health and Wellbeing Coach training. We maintain appropriate insurance, safeguarding procedures, professional supervision and ongoing professional development to ensure our services are delivered safely, ethically and to a high professional standard.

Above all, we aim to create a safe, welcoming space where people can simply be themselves. A place free from expectations, labels and judgement, where people feel listened to, valued and accepted for who they are. Surrounded by nature and our horses, they are given the time and space to connect, reflect, learn and grow at their own pace.
